The ‘wives come out for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards
April 20, 2009 by Amy Bartner
A few of the ladies were at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on Friday, where “Desperate Housewives” picked up an award for outstanding comedy series.
Yay for the gay-friendly ‘wives!
We haven’t seen Brenda Strong and Andrea Bowen in sooooooo long. This made me realize how much I really, really missed Julie. Ugh, she look so good! I don’t even think I love the dress that much (and I certainly don’t love the shoes), but she looks good in both!

Aight, kids. It’s been waaaaay too long since we last did this, and I’m extremely excited for this episode. I’m excited even though I just stopped of at Wendy’s for a Frosty, and they were all out of chocolate, so I had to get a vanilla Frosty. Why do those even exist?? But now I’m here, with Neighbor Peggy and Friend Erin, and we’re ready to see the first episode of “Desperate Housewives” in a month.
9:00: Yes! Edie’s narrating. “What can I say? It was one of those days.” The only people who’ve narrated the show have been dead. Mary Alice, Rex. Is she dee-ee-dee ded?
9:01: Yep. Less than a minute into the show, and my soap-opera-coma theory is already wrong. Edie really is DEAD dead. Wow. That’s….it?
9:02: It suddenly occurred to me that maybe this is what Dana Delany meant when she said “dead doesn’t mean dead.” Edie’s going to take over for Mary Alice? I mean, her character is totally moot at this point, right? Nicollette’s leaving the show for good, though, so maybe not.
9:04: So are we going to see all these happy stories about when Edie was fun and nice with everyone? Don’t get me wrong, I loved Edie, but she wasn’t the girl next door.
9:05: “Funny and likes to gossip? We’re going to get along just fine,” -Susan. Uh-huh. Yup. Until you BURN EACH OTHER’S HOUSES DOWN?
9:06: Thank the high harlotty heavens! Edie just said she was sleeping with a married neighbor. Good thing we’re not having happy-memory time like the 100th episode, with Eli Scruggs.
Mary Alice, always the barefoot lady
December 21, 2008 by Amy Bartner
Oh, it’s true.
When I saw this video on www.abc.com, I was like “Oh, that’s an interesting tidbit about Brenda Strong’s feet, now let me go about my way.”
But after sitting in front of my TV, rewatching Seasons 1 and 2 in 24-hour intervals this week, I realized how much knowing this fact about her has changed my outlook on the show.
I heavily weighed whether I should share it with you kids or not, for fear of changing allayall’s opinions about Mary Alice.
Maybe it won’t have the same effect on you as it did on me. Maybe you won’t think “I can’t take you seriously, Mary Alice*, because you’re barefoot while you’re narrating about your desperate friends.” Maybe you won’t think about how she’s still the tallest woman in the world, even taller than Marcia Cross — while forgoing the height of any sort of foot-arching sole.
But I do. I’ll always think about how your sweet voice is hiding a dark, nekkid, piggy-toed secret, Brenda.
*For some reason, every time I try to type Mary Alice, my fingers want to type Mary Alive. Weird, because she’s definitely not alive. Is there something my fingers are trying to tell me? So from here on out, Mary Alice is now going to be Mary Alive.

Marcia Cross and Brenda Strong at the American Fertility Association’s Annual Illuminations Gala
March 20, 2008 by Julie Bonner
On March 15th, Marica Cross and Brenda Strong were at the American Fertility Association’s Annual Illuminations Gala. Here are some great pictures from the event. Marcia looks SO skinny in her black dress doesn’t she? She still looks gorgeous though. This is a picture of Marcia speaking at someone’s private residence.
Here’s Marcia and Brenda together. I love Brenda’s shirt. She looks like she is ready for spring. I am very ready for warmer weather in my neck of the woods. I wore flip flops today and thought I could get by with it. My toes were freezing!! LOL!

Desperate Housewives at the SAG Awards
January 28, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Well, sadly Desperate Housewives didn’t win the SAG award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The Office ended up winning instead, but the Desperate Housewives sure looked gorgeous at the awards ceremony!
And here are the pictures to prove it.

Young Hollywood Interview with Brenda Strong
January 17, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Young Hollywood recently interviewed Brenda Strong, who plays Mary Alice Young on Desperate Housewives. She shows off a beautiful yellow ring that she now has to find a dress to go with. I can completely relate. No, famous jewelry designers do not give me free jewelry, but I’ve bought jewelry before that needed a new outfit to go with it.
Here’s the video clip; her interview is at the end.
