Prettier, but just as desperate
June 1, 2009 by Amy Bartner
Hi, Desperate Housewives fans!! You guys might have noticed a change in the way DesperateBlog looks! You’re not crazy OR at the wrong site — we’ve redesigned! Therefore, welcome to the new and improved DesperateBlog!!
Keeping that in mind, this is a great time to let you all know that the season might have ended, but my obsession with Desperate Housewives definitely has NOT ended.
So I’ll be spilling all the news, rumors, spoilers for next season aaaaaaaaaall summer long.
Desperate Housewives could be on until 2013?
December 11, 2008 by Amy Bartner
E! Online is reporting that Marc Cherry said he’d like to keep the show going for nine seasons — which keeps us wife-obsessed folks happy until 2013.
No deal is in place yet, Kristin Dos Santos reports, but it seems like the possibility is there.
That said, let us remember when Marc said the show would end after seven seasons? Oh, how quickly things change.
Sure, it’s easy to think about keeping the show on longer when it’s doing so well ratings-wise and when it’s so awesomely awesome. This season of Desperate Housewives is both of those.
Should a show have a defined ending so it doesn’t wear out viewers’ love? Jerry Seinfeld had this theory: Stop the show at its peak, leave the viewers wanting more.
What do you kids think?

Bloggy Giveaways at Desperate Blog - Enter to Win Some Great Prizes!!
July 28, 2008 by Julie Bonner
It’s Bloggy Giveaways time and this is my first one here at Desperate Blog. (I also have a contest running over at Disney Society, so head over there and enter to win 2 fun prizes.) For the giveaways, I have two prize packages for two lucky winners that I think you are all going to love!
First, let me tell you about the prizes and then at the end of the post, I will tell you how you can win.
Prize Package #1 - “A Desperate Housewife’s Entertaining Essentials”
Item #1
The people over at Santa Barbara Bay (who came up with that great prize package name by the way, lol) have put together an incredible package valued at more than $130. Here’s what you get:
- 6 of Santa Barbara Bay’s best-selling deli dips (Artichoke, Garden Dill, Caramelized Onion & Roasted Garlic, Spinach Dip, Chili Con Queso and Roasted Garlic Ranch Dip) – $3.99/each x 6 = $23.94
- 6 stoneware dip dishes from Crate & Barrel - $5.95 each x 6 = $35.70
- 1 serving platter from Crate & Barrel– $34.95
- 6 stainless steel spreaders from Crate & Barrel- $5.95/each x 6 = $35.70
Those dips look delicious and you can not go wrong with Crate & Barrel. Very exciting!

Item #2
While you are enjoying your dips from Santa Barbara Bay, why not play a game with your girlfriends? A night full of laughter, good friends, food and entertainment from GamesForDames.com.
That’s what Kerri and Patti, creators of “What’s a Dame to Do?!”, the newest board game for women thought. The game is based on life’s dame dilemmas and more embarrassing moments and getting through them laughing over a glass of wine with your best friends. It’s about using our female intuition to guess how the Dilemma Dame would react to something like having their last few tampons roll down the aisle on the bus after my purse spills after I drop it. Or how about accidentally hitting a guy in the groin while boarding an elevator?
The other players get to chose your anticipated reaction for the reaction cards their given. Some reaction cards seem to be pretty legitimate responses like “Use diplomacy” or “Think it’s no Biggie”, but you might get something like “Speak with a Foreign Accent”, “Flaunt your assets” or “Pretend you’re on a scavenger hunt”. Whatever, it’s still a laugh out loud experience.
The people at GamesForDames.com are also adding the new CD from Dirk Quinn is called “QuinnTet“. Here’s a description of the CD and Dirk Quinn: “Quinn is a 33-year-old jazz/funk guitarist with the sophistication and talent of what I suspect makes jazz legends. His writing, arranging and playing is prodigious and evocative; his music is a seductive confluence of passion and tenderness; intensity and lightheartedness. This is the kind of jazz the novice can get into. It’s got the right mix of smoothness and funk even for the beginner while keeping the jazz enthusiast mesmerized.”
Sounds like a fun game and a great CD to me!!

Item #3
The third item in this prize package is the book “Excuse Me, But I Was Next” How to Handle the Top 100 Manners Dilemmas from EmilyPost.com.
Here’s what this book is all about: “Etiquette expert Peggy Post comes to the rescue with an indispensable guide to our most vexing etiquette questions. Peggy addresses these perplexing dilemmas as only she can—with expertise and a direct, personal, down-to-earth style. You’ll learn how to politely say “no” to difficult requests, how to introduce someone if you’ve forgotten her name, how to perform damage control for e-mail bloopers, and much more.”
You and your girlfriends can read through this book together and learn how to deal with the top 100 manners dilemmas. Don’t we all have them?
Check out some other great books from this family owned business at EmilyPost.com.

Item #4
You want to look great while entertaining and be the envy of all of your friends right? Well, Skineez Skincarewear can help you look good and get rid of cellulite. Oh yeah, that’s right!
What is Skineez all about?
It is a shapewear garment that has anti-cellulite and moisturizing ingredients embedded in the fabric. Another really cool thing about this product other than the obvious reduction in the appearance of cellulite, is that it can also help you loose inches in you waist and thighs. You can read all about it at the Skineez website.
You can have your choice of the thigh slimmer or waist slimmer. I received the thigh slimmer a couple of weeks ago and I love it! I feel like I look better in my jeans than ever before and the fact that it is helping reduce cellulite is a major bonus! The garment has a nice citrus smell and is extremely comfortable. I have used another shapewear garment before and it was very uncomfortable and did not give me the look I was going for.
I am very happy with my Skineez and plan on recommending it to anyone who will listen!

Update on Recapping Season 4
July 15, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Just a quick note to let you all know I have not forgotten about watching and recapping season 4 of Desperate Housewives. I am beginning to wonder if it’s going to happen though! I downloaded the iTunes player and it not only did something to my already messed up computer, but I can’t get it to work!!!! I am not able to watch videos at all on my computer now. Not even from YouTube, argh. ![]()
I am uninstalling and then re-installing the iTunes player, so cross your fingers. I REALLY want to watch season 4 again and discuss it with you all before season 5 starts in September. Wish me luck and hopefully I will have a recap for everyone shortly.
Until then, how are all of you feeling about season 5? I am getting very excited!!

Watching and Recapping Desperate Housewives - Season 1
June 5, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Earlier last week I asked you which Desperate Housewives season you would like to watch and for me to recap during the summer months, while we wait for season 5 to start. The votes are in and season 4 won. Unfortunately, I realized afterwards that we can’t watch all of season 4 yet. The DVD isn’t out until September and abc.com only has a few episodes online.
Since season 1 came in second place, I am going to go with that one. I have been wanting to start from the beginning anyway, because Desperate Housewives was so amazing and great when it first came out. Not that it’s not now, I just love season 1!
So, how about we start watching season 1, one episode a week, starting the week of June 15th. That will give those of you who would like to order it some time to do so. You can check out the Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season DVD here Until then, I will continue to bring you updated DH news and also what the stars of the show are up to.
I am looking forward to watching and recapping season 1. I hope you will join me!

May 29, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Okay, season 4 of Desperate Housewives is over and now we spend the summer anxiously waiting for season 5. So, what do we do while we wait? What I would like to do is start from the beginning of a season and watch it together and then recap it the next day. What I need to know is if you all have a preference as to what season we watch together and recap. Please vote in the poll below and let me know! Thanks.

Slow Week for Desperate Housewives News
March 20, 2008 by Julie Bonner
This has been such a slow week for Desperate Housewives news and such. We had a plethora of spoilers and news come in and now everything seems so quite. Well, at least the DH stars seem to be out and about, so I have some catching up to do with pictures.
I’ll continue to keep my eyes and ears open for anything new and don’t hesitate to email me if you have a tip! April 13th is getting closer and closer and closer.
