Dana Delaney “I Think Edie is Coming Back”

(Dana Delaney at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.)
Dana Delaney recently attended the Monte-Carlo Television Festival and thanks to Lisa Fennigan, we have some Wisteria Lane news!
The first thing I learned from the article, was that Dana Delaney turned down the role of Bree four years ago. Why didn’t I know that?! Since turning down the role, she has been desperate to make it to Wisteria Lane. I don’t blame her! I would have kicked myself for turning down the role of Bree.
Dana managed to let her character Katherine shine through for a moment at the awards ceremony. She said, “the other girls of Wisteria Lane all wanted to be here for this, but being the newest bitch on the block I told them it was next week.” I love it! That is SO Katherine.
Read what else Dana has to say below the cut!
Is there anything Dana would change about her Desperate Housewives‘ character? Like maybe make her less sarcastic so she gets along with people better? No way! Of her character she says, “Katherine is quite complicated, it’s kind of hard to define her and that’s what I like about her. She’s very controlling, but I think that is because she was very damaged in her life. She is also very clever,” she said. “One of the early directions that Marc Cherry gave me was, I was playing a scene and he said to me, ‘a little less Katie Couric and a little more Diane Sawyer.’ I think that means she doesn’t care what other people think of her. She is very much cool and in control and manipulates people because of that.”
Dana mentioned that in real life she is nothing like her character. She is messy and she doesn’t cook that much. She likes to cook, but since she lives alone, she says cooking for one person is a bit boring.
What did Dana have to say about the very talked about 5 year flash forward on the season 4 finale? She said that it was “sort of a reset button for the writers,” she said. “They didn’t want to deal with the same story lines and the kids.” Hmmmm….I wonder what she meant by “and the kids”. From what we saw for season 5, there are more kids to deal with. Gabby’s twins!
Now everyone has been asking about Edie and if she is going to return or not. When it appeared that Nicollette Sheridan’s character was leaving for good, there were some mixed emotions. Some were glad to see her go, saying that there was not much else the writers could do with her character, while others were not happy about the storyline at all. They said that if Edie left, they would not be watching the show anymore. I hope Edie will return. I feel she ads and element to the show that no other character can. To me, she is one of the girls, even though none of them are speaking to her or acknowledging that she exists, lol.
What does Dana have to say about Edie?
“I think Edie is coming back. I don’t think you could ever not have Edie on Wisteria Lane and Nicollette is so delicious you need that sexual energy on the street and she does it so well,” she said. “I think that Marc likes to keep Edie hanging, for whatever reason, but I think Edie will be back so there will be 6, definitely 6 (women of Wisteria).”
