Desperate Housewives 4.07 "You Can’t Judge A Book By Its Cover" Recap

Tonight’s episode of Desperate Housewives was pretty exciting.  Here’s my take on what went down:

Gabrielle:

Gaby’s story revolves around Victor finding out about her and Carlos’ affair.  Gaby doesn’t know that he knows and goes along with him on a private boat trip.  While out in the middle of no where Carlos calls her to tell her that Edie showed Victor pictures of them together and that he’s furious.  She then thinks Victor’s going to kill her and knocks him into the water leaving him behind treading water as he calls after her.  When she gets to the dock she meets Carlos there who asks where Victor is.  She tells him that she thought he had a gun and left him in the water.  They search the boat for the weapon but it turns out that Victor was just trying to hand Gaby a blanket to keep her warm, not kill her.  They rush back out to save Victor who then tries to kill Carlos with a knife.  Gaby once again knocks him into the water.  This time however he doesn’t come up.  They search for him to no avail thinking he’s dead.  I think he’s probably going to show up alive at some point and get them in big trouble.  What you think?

Susan:

Bree catches Mike popping pills which he claims are Aspirin.  She checks a catalogue of drugs and then calls Susan to tell her that she thinks Mike is taking narcotics.  Susan confronts him and he denies it.  He says it’s his last pill from his accident.  She then talks to Bree who tells her not to believe him because addicts will lie to your face to continue their habit.  Susan searches her house until she finds Mike’s stash in a flashlight.  When she once again confronts Mike he promises to stop and dumps the pills down the drain.  Later that night while Susan is sleeping Mike uses his plumbing tools to get his drugs out of the pipes.  Wow, he’s got some serious issues.  Gross!

Lynette:

When Lynette has her friends over to tell them about her cancer being in remission her mother comes downstairs with some guy she came home with the night before.  Lynette’s grossed out and embarrassed and later on asks her mom to leave.  It turns out that her mom’s broke and Lynette’s sister had kicked her out right at the same time Lynette discovered she had cancer.  Lynette makes a lunch date with her sister and tries to granny dump her mom by sneaking her mom’s bags into her car and driving off.  Too funny!  Later on both her sisters show up with their mother in tow.  They all argue about who should take their mom.  She overhears the whole thing and leaves in a taxi without a word.  Aww, so sad. :(

Bree:

Bree and Orson name their son Benjamin and Bree wants to have him circumcised.  Orson will have none of it and tells the story of how his mother tricked him and his father into the procedure when he was 5 and he vividly remembers the whole thing!  Ouch!  When Bree secretly tries to have Benjamin snipped at the hospital, the doctor shows her a letter sent to him by Orson and just about every medical facility in the next two neighboring states forbidding the procedure.  Upset, she takes her boy to a friend’s child’s ritual circumcision and tricks the rabbi officiating into taking care of little Benjamin’s foreskin.  Orson is furious when she comes home and she says that because the baby isn’t his blood, he has no say.  This makes him even more distraught and says that he’s been there for her during the whole farce and thinks of Benjamin as his son.  Bree apologizes and says that she sometimes forgets that love is more important than blood.  I don’t think that this is quite resolved.

Katherine:

Dylan wants to know more about her father because she is doing a genealogical project for school.  She has Julie ask Susan if she knows anything about her father because Katherine won’t tell her anything.  Susan at first doesn’t want to say anything then admits that at her charades party, Katherine claimed that he was abusive.  Dylan overhears and is upset because he mom wouldn’t tell her anything but is willing to tell the neighbors at a party.  She confronts her mom and tells her that she’s no longer afraid of her.  Later on Katherine offers Dylan a piece of paper that she claims has her father’s last known address and phone number and then tells her an awful story about how he abused her the night she left him.  Dylan then decides she doesn’t want the information and walks away.  Of course, the paper was blank.  I wonder what the real mystery is.
