Desperate Housewives up for SAG award!
December 19, 2008 by Amy Bartner
Yes, kids, it’s true: One awards show didn’t leave the ‘wives in the suburban dust this year.
Desperate Housewives was nominated for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Other nominees are 30 Rock, Entourage, The Office and Weeds.
Should I be as surprised as I am to see it in the comedy category? It’s obviously not entirely a drama, either, but let’s face it…even though Marc Cherry’s wives are hilarious, funny and witty, they can’t hang with Tina Fey or Steve Carell when it comes to comedy.
The show got no individuals noms, but that’s OK by me. This series started with Susan as the “main” character and now has become a huge ensemble, where every character on Wisteria Lane is valuable.
The 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards airs live on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. eastern time, Jan. 25.

steve carell is hilarious!
do you know when desperate housewives comes back on airing new episodes? because according to my tv guide the next two weeks are repeats.=[
It comes back January 4th, Jaz.

I couldn’t have said it better myself! I’m so grateful Dana Delaney stayed on board, too!
Someday, I’d like to share my theory on how I think the show could end — and trust me, it’s a doozy.
I’m as sad about the break as you are, jaz
It’s just given me time to watch EVERY Desperate Housewives episode ever created (which I have).
Jamie, I can’t wait to hear this theory? Does it involve a major character dying? We all know this series can’t end without a death…and I don’t think it’s going to be Edie. They’ve already tried knocking her off a few times. Didn’t work each time…
Okay. Now this is a big ‘what-if’.
I believe Marc Cherry has stated that he envisions the show ending with just one character remaining.
No you have to just go woth me on this one. It’s far-fetched, but possible. And if you have seen the movie “Identity” starring John Cusack, this would make more sense.
What if Mary Alice is the only housewife remaining?
She shot herself in the first episode — but, what if she didn’t shoot herself? What if she had Multiple Personality Disorder, and she symbolically, by putting the gun to her head, killed off her major personality? (The one she was born with) What if all of the characters on Wisteria Lane, Fairview (which would not be an actual place — it would be her *mind*) were different personalities, and each character (personality) died off on the show through psychiatric treatment from a doctor.
Mary Alice could be the one left standing.
Lynette, Bree, Susan, Edie, Katherine and Gabrielle — the whole gang represent personalities. All other characters — husbands, doctors, lovers, were imagined scenarios.
So, basically what I’m saying (hypothetically) is that Mary Alice never died. The houusewives never existed. This whole time Mary Alice was in an institution, undergoing some experimental drug therapy that actually *worked*, and every time she narrated a show, she was actually talking to a psychiatrist, who is asking her “what’s happening now?” to gain further insight into her psyche.
All characters (again — personalities) die, and somehow, Mary Alice “survived” the symbolic gunshot to the head — leaving her completely cured.
Just a thought.
I know it was long-winded, but I’ve tossed this idea around with some friends, and they agree that the “it was all a dream” scenario has been overused before (“Newhart”, when he woke up with Suzanne Pleshette, “Dallas” where Bobby Ewing never died, “Roseanne”, where Dan survived the heart attack and she won the lottery “The Golden Girls” — when Blanche’s dead husband resurfaces after ‘faking’ his death)– but this would sure make an interesting ending (albeit — maybe not the BEST one). Don’t you think?
Totally a fan. Benigna Marko has been a fan since night one! Benigna Marko enjoys the many mysterious happenings that unveil at Wisteria Lane. Benigna Marko has even purchased a Wisteria flowering plant for her garden. Benigna Marko enjoys all the drama around Susan but yes agrees that every single actor has a special place. You can’t forget Bri, she is just classy. All the ladies are excellent for the show. Please please keep it coming. Love that Carlos has gotten his eyesight back.

I miss Eadie. I wish somehow she would not have been killed. And, this now role of Kate being obsessed with Mike is getting stupid. Hopefully we can fast forward on this. I love Eva.
so sad to see the results of the plane crash, but i think it will get better now
