Desperate Housewives Will Run on Lifetime

If you missed any episodes of Desperate Housewives over the years you’re in luck! Reruns of the show will run on Lifetime:
The network for women initially passed on the Marc Cherry spec script when it was originally pitched.
Lifetime is getting into bed with the women of Wisteria Lane. The female-targeted network, which originally passed on Marc Cherry’s spec script for Desperate Housewives, is getting a second chance with the Emmy-winning hit having picked up the rerun rights to the Buena Vista TV comedy, according to Daily Variety. Under the new deal, which industry insiders estimate to be worth about $500,000 per episode, Lifetime will air reruns of the show five-days-a-week beginning in 2008. In addition, the basic cabler will air new episodes of the show a few days after they run in their original Sunday 9 p.m. slot on ABC. The latter part of the deal will begin as soon as Lifetime and Buena Vista make the deal official.
The power over at Lifetime has changed hands since passing on the Housewives spec. Now, Lifetime, which Variety is reporting beat out TBS for the rights to Housewives, is hoping to breath some new life into recent sluggish ratings. Both the network original Cheerleader Nation and reruns of Emmy monster Frasier have been underperforming at the net. Cherry does have a somewhat successful history on the network, however, as he began his career on The Golden Girls, whose reruns currently bring in good numbers for Lifetime.
Now that the Housewives rerun rights are being settled, Buena Vista hopes to next shop around re-broadcasting rights for two other mega-hits: Lost and Grey’s Anatomy, both of which could potentially land a $1 million per episode licensing fee. via film stew

Rumor has it that “Desperate Housewives” will move from Lifetime to MyNetworkTV owned and operated stations and affiliates, including WPWR-TV in Chicago, Illinois, this Fall. Is this true, yes or no?
