Eva Longoria in Hot Tamales live

Eva Longoria’s pretty serious (seriously sexy) as Gabrielle Solis on Desperate Housewives you might not expect her to be so involved in stand up comedy:

Eva Longoria, one of the most publicized stars of Desperate Housewives , has an alter-ego.

By day, she steams up the frame both on film and television, but by night, when a San Antonio Spurs basketball game isn’t scheduled,  you might find her at Mitzi Shore’s " The Comedy Store" on Sunset- now run by son Pauly, producing her hit comedy revue, Hot Tamales Live!   It is one of longest running female comedy variety shows, and in the recent past included the Los Angeles Brazilian Community in celebration of Carneval - commemorating of one of the first female "south of the border" performers to make it big in Hollywood, Carmen Miranda.   Miranda was not a true Latina.  She was born in Marco de Canavezes, Portugal, and was in fact, a European raised in Rio de Janeiro.

Hot Tamales Live was created by Longoria to showcase female talent, interspersed with sketch comedy. Lifetime Television Network is one of the key sponsors of the live shows at The Comedy Store. "We’re looking forward to working with The Hot Tamales and are proud to be associated with such a talented group of comediennes," according to Jenny Alonzo, SVP of Production for Lifetime Networks.

Longoria’s longtime friend and comedian, Kiki Melendez, is the host and director of the show.  Some past participants have included Francis Dilorinzo, Marilyn Martinez, Stella, Lisa Alvarado, Stephanie Blum, Leimomi, Retha Jones, Sandra Vals, Kira Soltanovich, Amy Anderson, Maria Bravo, Dave Cobert, Rudy Mella, Erinlee Adamson, Jackie Dollar, Johnny Rey, Christian Arroyo, Tharam and Marea Paez, and rising star Monique Marvez, who currently owns the air waves of San Diego on her hot "Monique and the Man" morning show for Jack 100.7 FM and has a deal with Dick Wolf films and an upcoming book release.

If you are planning a visit to Los Angeles, it’s a fun night out on the Sunset Strip.  The famous House of Blues is right across the street for after show food and music. Via People and Monsters
