Felicity Huffman at the Sundance Film Festival for ‘Phoebe in Wonderland’
Park City, Utah has been all a buzz with the Sundance Film Festival going on. From what I can tell, there have been a lot of great films being shown there with some great stars, including Desperate Housewives’ star Felicity Huffman.
She took part in the independent film "Phoebe in Wonderland" and the reviews seem to be going the film’s way so far. I am really hoping this film gets picked up and goes to theaters, and I’m not talking about just a limited release, but everywhere. This is a film I really want to see. Here’s a synopsis:
Felicity Huffman, Elle Fanning, and Patricia Clarkson star in director/screenwriter Daniel Barnz’s illuminating tale of parenting and growth concerning an exceptional young girl whose troubling retreat into fantasy draws the concern of both her dejected mother and her unusually perceptive drama teacher. Phoebe (Fanning) is a talented young student who longs to take part in the school production of Alice in Wonderland, but whose bizarre behavior sets her well apart from her carefree classmates. Her mother (Huffman) is an aspiring academic who is beginning to feel like she has not only failed in her professional career, but as a parent as well. Though Phoebe’s gifted drama teacher (Clarkson) has no doubts about the young girl’s talent and capacity for learning, the frustration of seeing such a promising student slowly slip ever further away from reality soon becomes a growing concern both at home and at school. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Both the LaTimes Blog and The Hollywood Reporter have given this film excellent reviews. The Hollywood Reporter calls Phoebe in Wonderland a "compelling drama" and "as the beleaguered and well-intentioned mother, Felicity Huffman crystallizes the frustrations and self-doubt of a loving mother…"
I know that Felicity has to be so proud of this movie and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will all get to see it!
