James Denton Confirms the Susan/Mike Split

James Denton has confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine that his character Mike Delfino and Teri Hatcher’s character Susan Mayer have split for the 5 year flash forward. Denton has said, “Mike and Susan have definitely split up.”
Does that mean that Denton is out of the show entirely? If that’s the case, creator Marc Cherry will have a lot of angry viewers on his hands!
According to the June 24 Mitovich Mega Minute, Denton has said that he is indeed coming back to the show. Denton says, “I’m not sure exactly in what capacity — [series creator] Marc Cherry is being a little cagey — but I will certainly be on the show. It’s a relief… trust me.”
It’s a relief for us James Denton fans too! I am still not happy about Mike and Susan being split up. I just don’t get it. Like so many of you have said, we waited SO long for them to finally get together. They get together, have a baby and then you pull the rug out from under their marriage? I don’t like it one bit.
Of course I am not banning the show for season 5, but I at this point in time, I am not feeling really sure about it. I AM excited about the new season because I can not wait to see what the story line is all about, but I am nervous at the direction the show is heading. This time, I just have no clue what to expect!

James Denton is a terrific actor and he and Terri Hatcher belong together in this show. I believe Mr. Cherry could make Terri’s character of Susan mature and help Mike with the drug problem and go on to help others who have the same problem. I would appreciate Mr. Cherry putting the two back together and have them raise their son Maynard together. What has happended to Mike’s first son Zack Young and his adoptive father Paul Young. Is Paul still in prison? Was Zack responsible for the grandfather’s death. More could be developed with Zack. Desperate Housewives has the best cast of characters and I hope will survive this recent turn of events.

This note is for Mr. Cherry. Desperate Housewives is a great show and I have watched other shows you have written and liked them also. Please listen to your audience and put Mike and Susan back together. You will be surprised how many viewers will come back to watch the show. Terri Hatcher and James Denton relate very well to each other and why not introduce Mike’s brother and have Susan and Mike take him under their wings. Thanks for listening.
