Desperate Housewives “Crime Doesn’t Pay”
Air date: March 8, 2009
Live blog/recap
As always, here’s the deal: Neighbor Peggy and I sit and watch the ‘wives and comment on how much better their lives could be if they’d just listen to us. This time, Neighbor Peggy’s boyfriend, Cameron, (sorta) joins us. He’s doing something on his laptop and half-listening to to the show.
Don’t forget about the winners and losers of the show! Check back later for them — and suggest some of your own if you have ‘em!
9:00: It looks like this is going to be a big Orson episode — which is a good thing. Not gonna lie, I always was kinda irritated that we just ignored his shadiness and accepted him at Bree’s husband, and five (six? Seven?) years later, here we are.
9:02: “I used to be a dentist, remember?” Ooohh, right. Tom’s always been my favorite man on the show, and I like that he’s gettin’ spunky. And Orson just earned a new nickname by stealing the salt shaker: KleptOrson.
9:04: Susan’s wearing a see-through shirt? Actually, on second glance, it looks great on her — albeit a little too…harlotty? There’s a better word for a 44-year-old woman wearing a bra with a fishing net over it. I’m not quite sure if I can remember just what it is….oh, that’s right: COUGAR.
9:07: I can’t say I’m surprised that Bradley is making Gaby his alibi, though that’s not a fantastic position for her to be in… “I paid you thirty grand, I want to get my money’s worth.”
9:09: Orson’s doing a weird voice with the stolen salt shaker? I just keep looking a the screen and saying “WTF? No, seriously…wtf.”
9:10: Peggy comes in late with the boyfriend, Cameron, and immediately says, “What is Susan wearing?” Cameron says, “Yeah, baby!”

Desperate Housewives 5.06 ‘There’s Always a Woman’ Promo
October 27, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Next Sunday, November 2nd, is an all new Desperate Housewives episode. It’s 5.06 “There’s Always a Woman”.
What comes to mind when you hear that title? And who all is it going to apply to…there’s always a woman? Hmmm…the preview sure looked funny.
We see that the cougar, Gail O’Grady, is making her guest appearance in this episode and boy does it look like she is stirring up some trouble! Carlos gives a woman an orgasm as he is giving her a massage. Wow, he must be GOOD! I’ve had 2 professional massages and well….they were good, but not that good.
I’m not sure why Susan is screaming in the shower. With her, you just never know. And then there’s Bree who’s on the phone saying “you slept with him?” while Orson stands by looking guilty.
They said this was a naughty episode. When it comes to Desperate Housewives, the naughtier the better. Check out the promo.

Poll: What Did You Think of Episode 5.05 ‘Mirror, Mirror’
October 27, 2008 by Julie Bonner
The October 26th episode of Desperate Housewives, 5.05 “Mirror, Mirror”, was one of the better of the season so far. I really enjoyed getting to look back on some of the things that happened over the last 5 years and it was nice to have some things explained.
I thought how they set up the episode was great too. The whole thing starts with Karen McCluskey’s surprise party and then the evening back tracks as we watch each Wisteria Lane lady get ready for the evening.
I thought each story was told well and it really helped the audience see why and how the ladies got to the point in their lives where they are now. I feel like the season is picking up steam and I am hoping it continues to get better and better.
Before I ask you what you thought of this episode, let’s take a look at the results from last week’s poll.
What did you think of episode 5.04 “Back in Business”:
- Loved It! - 63%
- It Was Okay - 31%
- Boring - 5%
- Didn’t Like it At All - 1%
So, just like all the previous weeks, the majority loved the episode.
What about this week’s episode? Let me know what you thought!

Poll: What Did You Think of 5.04 ‘Back in Business’
October 22, 2008 by Julie Bonner
Another season 5 Desperate Housewives episode is behind us. This Sunday was episode 5.04 “Back In Business”. (Recap coming soon!)
Although the ladies of Wisteria Lane are good friends with Bree, it is hard for them not to be jealous of her success and that jealousy reared its little head at a party honoring Bree. Lynette offered Bree marketing advice that she didn’t like and Lynette was hurt. The she runs into her old assistant at the party and he has his own advertising firm, which just so happens to be the one doing Bree’s ads. Ouch! Talk abut a punch in the stomach.Needless to say, Lynette gets a little drunk and causes a scene.
Overall, what did you think of this episode?
Here are the results from the last episode 5.03 “Kids Ain’t Like Everybody Else”:
- Loved It! - 53%
- It Was Okay - 36%
- Boring - 6%
- Didn’t Like it At All - 5%
Vote in this week’s poll and tell me what you thought!

Desperate Housewives 5.05 ‘Mirror, Mirror’ Promo and Sneak Peeks
October 22, 2008 by Julie Bonner
The October 26th Desperate Housewives episode 5.05 “Mirror, Mirror” will fill us in a little on the 5 years we all missed out on. What happened during those 5 years on Wisteria Lane?
We know that Susan and Mike split because of the wreck, but how did she meet Jackson? We know that Bree welcomed Orson back but why? We also know that Gaby gained some weight and had a couple of daughter, but we don’t know how she got there exactly. We also know that Tom and Lynette still own the pizzeria, but what has their life been like over the past 5 years. It seems to me that their marriage is in trouble. So many unanswered questions and I am *hoping* they will answer them for us. I feel a little lost this season.
Here’s the 5.05 promo as well as a couple of sneak peeks.
Sneak peeks below.

Ricardo Chavira is Protective About Two New TV Daughters and the Obesity Issue
August 25, 2008 by Julie Bonner
What a good man Ricardo Chavira is. In the September 1st issue of TV Guide, which hits the newsstands Thursday, August 28th, he questions the overweight plot which involves his two TV daughters.
Chavira grew up with an older sister who battled the weight issue, so he has mixed feeling about the whole story line involving two young girls. He asked, “Seeing it in my family and [considering] the childhood-obesity issues in the United States right now, should we be making fun of it?”
DH creator Marc Cherry has said that he is taking every step to protect the young actresses. He says that he even makes sure that they are not at any ‘table reads’ to hear any of those fat references.
“In the season opener, we examine Gaby’s growing realization that her children may be beyond ‘baby fat’ and her difficulty in addressing the problem with a husband who’s blind,” Cherry explains.
Interesting. How do you feel about two young girls who have been cast to play the “over weight” daughters of Carlos and Gaby? Can they really be protected enough?
Also, here’s a little spoiler:Carlos’ battle with Gaby over this issue has made his beard go gray, but he’ll relieve tension working as a massage therapist. The return of his sight later in the season will inspire profound changes in the couple. Hint: They might require the services of Nip/Tuck’s doctors.
You can read the entire article in TV Guide’s senior editor Will Keck’s column, What the Keck?!
